A French-made bolt action rifle, seen by some as one of the most important rifles ever made. It's tube fed so the original ammunition was rounded, however later they adopted pointed bullets due to their various advantages. Having pointed objects right up against the primer of a bullet isn't the best idea so they added an extra ridge to catch the tip of the next round as it's fed in.
